I am Dr. M. Kent Kiser and I look forward to meeting you! To make your first visit more comfortable, I am sharing information about myself and listing a few credentials for your preview.
I grew up in Bluefield, WV and still enjoy treating patients at the same office where I stopped on my way home from school to watch my dad provide orthodontic care. Myself and my family now reside in Radford, VA and my main office is located there, close to my son's school (go Radford Bobcats).
I am a veteran of the United States Air Force and have been helping people restore confidence in their smile and improve their self-image since 1995. I graduated from Hampden-Sydney College with a BA in Psychology before earning my Doctorate of Dental Surgery from West Virginia University School of Dentistry. After that, I attended a highly-specialized General Practice Residency at the Second Strategic Hospital at Barksdale Air Force Base and went on to complete my orthodontic training and residency at Columbia University Presbyterian Hospital SDOS, where I was the class president. During orthodontic training, I learned more than 5 different techniques for tooth alignment that prepared me to address the individual needs of each person I treat. My extensive training and over 20 years of experience qualify me as a knowledgeable orthodontist.
I love working with kids and enjoy a good laugh. In my career, I've treated a wide variety of orthodontic cases. I show that I care about my patients and am dedicated to quality care by personally examining and individualizing orthodontic adjustments at every scheduled appointment. I am qualified to treat complex cases involving orthognathic surgery and am confident in providing orthodontics in cleft lip and palate cases.
Staying current with the latest updates in dentistry and orthodontics is important to me so I maintain professional memberships in the following organizations:
- American Association of Orthodontics
- Southern Association of Orthodontics
- Virginia Association of Orthodontics
- American Dental Association
- Virginia Dental Association
- Southwest Virginia Association
- West Virginia Dental Association
I am a lifetime member of WVU Alumni Association and am active in the Mountaineer Athletic Club. I give back to the community by participating in and volunteering at school fundraisers, local church activities, the New River Valley Free Clinic and Donated Dental Services. Currently, I am funding a $1000 annual college scholarship fund to support education. To apply, call the Community Foundation @ 540-381-8999 or visit their website @ http://www.cfnrv.org/.
